SSU is in contingency planning mode - no closure yet but the Faculty Center Staff have been deemed “Essential Personnel” in the event of a closure. We are running daily Canvas, Yuja, and Gradebook workshops and 9-5 open Zoom support sessions.

No closures here as well. We have discussed increasing our LMS Support team capacity so cross-training in the Academic Techology department is a possibility. Regular zoom workshops may take place. http://www.csulb.edu/academic-technology-services/instructional-design/keep-teaching-and-learning

I know I am preaching to the choir, but can we agree faculty are not "teaching online" as that requires a different pedagogy. Our president has called it "alternative delivery" or "non-classroom environment"
Catherine Hillman
24:05
Beverly - thank you!!! I am so concerned that this is going to be equated with online teaching, and it is not!
Catherine Hillman
24:17
We’re saying “virtual teaching"
Beverly Bondad-Brown
24:29
or "remote teaching" ??
Catherine Hillman
24:39
Glenn awesome suggestion!!
Beverly Bondad-Brown
24:48
some faculty are literally going to need to do "correspondence courses"

Thanks Catherine, that is exactly the conversation that Victoria and I have been having as well

I agree - it’s the ‘messaging’ around this - THIS IS NOT ONLINE TEACHING - this is a temporary means to an end to get students through the semester.

27:16
Hi all sorry I am late I was teaching...
Kristin Denver
27:18
At SSU I’ve made an asynchronous version of our Online & Blended Teaching Excellence course publicly available (excluded assignments) so that folks can pull from the resources as needed… in addition to all of the support on our website.
Catherine Hillman
27:56
GREAT point, Beverly!!

What about organizing by LMS?

Accessibility messaging is key--for instructor generated content and student generated content.

We just heard at Long Beach that "alternative instruction" is going to replace on-site classes. Face-to-face classes are canceled tomorrow through Tuesday, March 17. The campus will remain open. Alternative instruction begins on March 18.
cynthia melendrez
33:25
Here at CSUSM we are planning a contingency plan in case we need to go online
Megan Eberhardt
34:55
We have set up a ‘drop-in’ zoom room for faculty support - we have a schedule to staff 9-5 daily. We will open this if we move in the ‘no onsite’ class direction.
Beverly Bondad-Brown
35:18
QM rubric SRS 5.1 would be something good for webinar (and related QTL standard). I would emphasize using LMS tools so all have access (discussions, assignment)
Megan Eberhardt
36:21
We’ve reached out to all our trained OTPP/BLPP. 54 have volunteered to be part of our Peer2Peer network and support colleagues in their individual schools. We’ve create a slack channel for them to get support from of our team as they support colleagues
Kristin Denver
36:53
