I’m curious how folks are compensating their faculty mentors?
Khaoi Mady
39:45
Maritime: We have 54 faculty that are registered for the QLT Intro to Online Teaching. We also have a handful of faculty that is taking advantage of the ACUE micro-credential course, Promoting Active Learning Online, as provided by the CO. We also have been pushing the ACUE micro-credential course for Creating an Inclusive Online Environment. Also, we will be launching a self-pace course conversion tool within our LMS.

Deb - in spring each one received $6000 or one course release equivalent
SF State - Deb Perry
40:20
Woah!
SF State - Deb Perry
40:55
@Catherine, how many hours of work per week/course however you measured it, did you estimate that was for them?
Catherine Hillman
43:16
Deb we had them do a variety of tasks - in some areas they created and facilitated Canvas shells with resources, and all conducted weekly department or division meetings across all colleges, plus they were available for one-on-one mentoring as needed. My department wasn’t involved in setting this up so I don’t have all of the details
SF State - Deb Perry
43:34
Thanks @Catherine!

We have faculty mentors in our Zoom drop in support that help take support calls.
SF State - Deb Perry

Does anyone use any other models of compensating faculty mentors other than a course release/flat rate/semester stipend?

Yes! We hear from our faculty every day, they tell us: “I have so much more empathy for my students now that I’ve been a student…”
Ashley Skylar
01:07:50
ideas about how badges are used? on-campus? professionally?
Pam Dougherty SLO
01:08:24
@Deb…yes, same at SLO!
SF State - Deb Perry
01:08:34
@ashley, i’m not sure how faculty use badges, but our badges will link to their teaching portfolios.
Ashley Skylar
01:09:33
Deb- are the teaching portfolios showcased online? or link to their portfolio for RTP/
SF State - Deb Perry
01:10:41
@ashley, the teaching portfolios are in Portfolium, but they are private by default, so faculty need to make them pubic. (it’s our student platform, separate from the RTP platform).
Ashley Skylar

Pam Dougherty SLO
01:14:41
It seems like there are several factors: 1. What do faculty need, and what is their skill level? 2. How many staff/faculty do you have who can develop and facilitate the trainings for those at different skill levels
Pam Dougherty SLO
01:15:12
And how many faculty need the trainings....
Pam Dougherty SLO
01:16:48
@Ashley…yes! Thank you for clarifying that
Kim Vincent-Layton - HSU
01:17:34
@Pam the Pivot Pathway is facilitated, live workshops are facilitated. We also have self-paced workshops in Canvas.
