Deeper Discussions: How to Create and Sustain Meaningful Interaction in Online Discussions - Shared screen with speaker view
I’m super excited about this session. I have been using discussion board these last two weeks with mixed results.
The CSU can verify attendance. Please email Zee Cline at email@example.com.

I’ve started to see this in my own teaching. Some students who were reluctant to speak in our face-to-face class have come alive in our online chats.
I’m currently teaching March (from the 3.0 unit) I will have to give them the articles online… Are they adapted for online reading?
The slides can be accessed at: http://bit.ly/3eJXHNk
Do we have access to the complete discussion board rubric doc.?
thank you for the bit.ly to get the slides
I am a Cal State Fullerton student in an online masters program. Everything Chris is saying is done in my program too and it’s amazing. We really do feel like part of a community even though we haven’t met in person, and that is so helpful for motivation and completing assignments.
Can you convert the canvas doc to PDF or Google Doc.?
If you follow the bit.ly and open the rubric doc, it opens as a Google Doc. The comments are just in Slides and could be copy, pasted.
Thank you, Kelly. A colleague noted that what many of us are doing isn’t distance learning; it’s emergency teaching from home .

Yes, email email@example.com for verification
I am glad to hear the size of Lori's classroom. With the growing need for online at this point, teachers are asking what max online class should be. 25 sounds more reasonable than 40.
Watch your email for the invitation to the next three sessions. Coming soon!
you can not make groups in GC
Verity Olliff (1)
Yes you can … just send assignments to selected students
Yes! The recordings will be posted to the ERWC Online Community.
You can have multiple GClassrooms
You can create a classroom for your groupings
You can send an assignment to specific students, but you can’t have static groups.
I have had luck giving students options - Zoom OR an online discussion board. Some students like the “one and done” of a Zoom chat, and they are getting tired of all online learning. Others would rather be asynchronous.
Try WebEx for education
Thank you so much!
Thanks to Chris and Lori!
