I’ve started to see this in my own teaching. Some students who were reluctant to speak in our face-to-face class have come alive in our online chats.

I am a Cal State Fullerton student in an online masters program. Everything Chris is saying is done in my program too and it’s amazing. We really do feel like part of a community even though we haven’t met in person, and that is so helpful for motivation and completing assignments.

Can you convert the canvas doc to PDF or Google Doc.?
Sarah
01:31:55
If you follow the bit.ly and open the rubric doc, it opens as a Google Doc. The comments are just in Slides and could be copy, pasted.

Thank you, Kelly. A colleague noted that what many of us are doing isn’t distance learning; it’s emergency teaching from home .

I am glad to hear the size of Lori's classroom. With the growing need for online at this point, teachers are asking what max online class should be. 25 sounds more reasonable than 40.

I have had luck giving students options - Zoom OR an online discussion board. Some students like the “one and done” of a Zoom chat, and they are getting tired of all online learning. Others would rather be asynchronous.
