No poll, but I'm not sure at this point because I'm teaching.
The OpenEd jam session is 8-11 PM on Thursday. Can you eat early? I want to jam.
Yay, Open Ed is around the corner!
We already started adding notes to every section that uses an OER.
Nothing at Cal Poly, SLO. I’m not a part of it but it seems that those in charge are not paying attention.
We have identified the courses for Winter and have them tagged already so that they can be filtered by an attribute (use banner) Attribute: "zero-textbook-cost"
CSU Campus stores all willing to collect and forward OER adoption data to schedule office.
Follett and HSU ITS are working on the process for display
Switching our campus to one bookstore ordering/notification system instead of having the option of two choices as it will work better to collect OER info for scheduling.
SB 1359 is being handled by our administration. I have nothing to do with it; however, I have had conversations with our admin people who handle PeopleSoft and they have told me that they will have to rely on departmental admin assistants to enter the data because, beyond those faculty listed with me as part of ALS, I have no idea who else is providing ALS.
Sharlene Paxton, Cerro Coso Community College
I've shared the requirement with my VP, and he is (hopefully) working with IT to make sure we can add a symbol or logo to the schedule. Is anyone else using Banner to do this? I'd love to be able to share info on this with my admin.
The big problem is identifying faculty who are doing ALS.
We have identified them and put the icon on each section that is OER in our winter quarter schedule. I have been working with our secretary of scheduling to make this happen.
The campus is implementing the requirement by adding an icon to the class schedule display in Campus Solutions Student Center and the public Class Schedule. In order to identify the class sections in the schedule, a class attribute for ZCCM (Zero Cost Course Materials) will be selected when the section is scheduled by the department, college, or academic resources scheduling office. Faculty will be asked by their respective scheduling staff (AOCs) to identify the classes they teach that have no associated instructional materials costs.
SB 1359 FAQ link ^^
Which campus' have you met with Leslie?
We selected a tag and are requiring each department to collect which sections will be using all free materials. IT has already worked out how to include the tag on the online schedule of classes. The departments need to send the information by the deadline for proof 2.

Ooh, I am sure my district's people in charge of this would like to see that folder.
Most of our faculty are not using textbooks of any kind.
Can you put the google doc link in the chat
What if faculty don't want to share that info?
After all, we didn't tell faculty up front that this would be a requirements.
New Digital Textbook document...could this be added into our annual report or is that what you are avoiding, having it come at the end of the year>
@Aline Share what you do have access to
Are you requiring this reporting for every AB 798 adoption? Many of our adoptions aren’t strictly textbooks (e.g. collections of articles, library articles and ebooks, etc). What about these kinds of adoptions?
@Heidi We would like to collect any/all information you can share. We'll reach out to you directly to help with material that is not digital, if helpful.
What about privacy issues? Essentially, invading students' rights in the class.
Which CSU's are already using this? Not as a pilot but which have purchased contracts.
CSU Sacramento and CSU Channel Island
I think I may have missed this detail earlier — what’s the cost?
Thanks you guys!!!
Thank you :)
Thanks, everyone!! Keep up the great work!
