We have had two faculty that are implementing OER materials this Spring and who are eagerly waiting for the semester to end to receive their funds. We have begun our workshops for the second cohort starting this Spring and we are still supporting faculty from cohort 1 with finding OER material and auxiliaries during writing workshops coming up next week.

39:49
We’ve held 3 OER workshops so far with approx 50-60 faculty attendees.

40:09
College of the Canyons had an OER Summit Day. We had over 125 attendees from all over CA.

40:35
We have full departments going OER for all of its classes. We are a very small college with only a couple dozen faculty. Almost all are on board and Tahoe is becoming a mostly OER college. The work as all been one to one.

40:38
Yes - it's in the open version of Cavas: https://canvas.instructure.com/courses/1123092

It is great to share resources with each other's campus.

41:56
cool. romana

SMC oer page

43:21
CSUEB: The big problem with much of this is finding out from faculty what they’re using, but, in most cases, it’s not a book at all. It’s websites, learning objects, self-created things.

43:36
HSU: publishing 3 open textbooks for fall; OER strategies in our Unconference, and want to finish the semester by focusing on departmental workshops.

45:35
Are we allowed to pay their fees from the grant?

45:57
http://www.canyons.edu/Offices/DistanceLearning/OER/Pages/default.aspx

46:25
The challenge of that is that the grant is finite and we can’t promise continuation.

47:24
General cost for Intellus Lerning?

48:09
Thanks

48:23
They told us its $10K for pilot or $20K for full campus

48:34
They’ve been cagy about this. I should also say that part of the cost is the base cost plus a certain additional amount for each database you add as a “link” to Intellus.

48:45
Agreed. I only has 12.

48:50
Has anyone used the OER Commons authoring tools?

48:51
Will do

49:25
I’ve been getting great advice from our ALS Subcommittee of the Senate. They get more and more on board as we go.

50:06
Z degree @ Fullerton - Did you provide a big stipend for the department?

50:19
We are looking at certificates and/or masters programs that could be “z-degree” programs.

51:19
We teach faculty about that in the workshops

52:27
I saw this option in the OER Commons website - there are faculty who are interested in developing and curating materials and it might be a nice option to use as a digital learning platform.

52:29
SSU: We have an OER/AL$ Discovery event scheduled on May 23. Our Faculty Associate and Library Faculty member from our Affordable Learning/AB798 Committee will lead the training. We also are closing our Textbook Student Survey with about 1k responses .

52:47
Thank you!

52:51
with the student tutition passing.. our president has stepped up the AL$/OER initative. We are in meeting now to develop it as a Fresno State "whole" program that all faculty must implment to help off set the cost of the raise.

52:58
MSIDT Fullerton is student instructional cost free - many faculty were AL$ ambassadors as part of the AL$/AB798 grants and they convinced their entire department to go OER and library ebooks, and our IT dept supported software purchase students needed with site licences. We stipended individual faculty from each main core course in their program.

52:59

53:12

What is the typical amount that your campus gives as a stipend to faculty for going to an OER workshop and attempting to adopt a textbook?

01:18:25
Do you have an idea of your total faculty attendance over the 3 hours, other than the Ambassadors?

01:20:32
$300 for 3 hour hands-on workshop, next we are trying $100 for 1 hour at department meetings.

01:21:39
Thank you!
