Cal Poly San Luis Obispo: Annual cohort of Quality Online Teaching Academy (QOTA) in full swing, faculty developing their courses. Campus is considering a new push for online courses, which is very exciting. We are also holding "Innovative Teaching" lunch sessions to help faculty ease into online teaching & learning, and we're moving quickly toward Canvas conversion (from Moodle) workshops for all faculty as we will be 100% on Canvas by Fall 2020. Lots of great & exciting things happening here!

San Francisco State: We just completed our QLT Hybrid Workshop (3 sessions, 1 F2F, 1 asynchronous online in the LMS, 1 synchronous online via Zoom) and it went really well! This is our third iteration and we think we finally have a successful format/content.

San Marcos: presented a student workshop on online readiness, today we are going to offer a workshop for our faculty “teaching online what I need to know”, our FLC is going great, and we have more courses to review using QLT. So far things are going well.

It's a great book, I would recommend however, to build more time to integrate the theory and practice aspect.

@Jase, agreed! With the redesign of CSUCI’s Online Teaching Preparation Program (OTPP)’s How to Design your Online Course, this book has served as a design framework for the process through which faculty progress through the course. I’ve had faculty map course outcomes, integrated UDL into the book’s course development process, and aligned UDL content with Cognitive Science Principles presented in Chapter 4. Curious to learn how you are using the book?

We pair the faculty up and invite key speakers to our weekly book discussion. Example, two faculty members will pair up and review each chapter and then come up with questions for the group to share, discuss, etc. Some other weeks we invite faculty who have more online teaching experience to share how they create meaningful online discussions. Me and Glenn will be focusing on the UDL and Accessibility chapter etc.

We had an "agreement form" to recieve stipends. Now our DOC program does NOT have any payment and there are more participants--but we also don't ask for whole course to be designed

We also post resources up on Canvas... but that's as far as we have gotten.

I heard something about Qualtrics --- it's a robust tool and our faculty are requesting to use SurveyMonkey but it could be because Qualtrics is not well-known on-campus. So I am getting a couple of faculty together to showcase how they are using Qualtrics for instructional and educational purposes in or out of the classroom.

At Stanislaus, I am also putting together several workshops on LMS evaluations between Blackboard and Canvas--from CSU campuses and locally as well. I'd be interested to chat offline with those who have converted from one LMS to another etc (the process, timeline, implementation), Thank you!
