Starting in 2020 all GE math classes at CSUSB wiill use tech: spreadsheets, Geogebra, Desmos, Wolfram Alpha, etc. Currently using Webwork for some courses. ALEKS and Knewton do not look good. We wish there was some adaptive systems with better content.

So we're ready to address the question on our campuses: does anyone know whether ALEKS also provides a Spanish language option?
Jen-Mei Chang (CSULB)
01:26:32
ALEKS does.

This looks like it’s sort missing “Achieving number sense”, but I haven’t seen this anywhere. Example: the decimal arithmetic should include an estimate of the answer, either as a final answer or a way to check using another method. I had a student this term who had to use long division to divide by 100. She would pass these tests!

01:28:11
p.s. In *college* algebra!

01:29:18
It’s not a concept: it’s a whole frame of mind.

Mobile platform performance?
Susan Addington
01:30:00
I am thinking a lot about number sense (in my spare time-ha!)
Mike Krebs
01:30:31
Along those lines: Multi-platform (Mac, PC)? Any issues with particular browsers (Chrome, Safari, IE, etc.)?

01:30:33
There are some challenges with using a phone since not all features are compatible from my experience.

01:30:42

At CSUMB- the resources are really great. Students usuallly don't know where to find find resources or what concept to "google" or look up on Khan academy to get extra help

01:31:20
I need to leave for a meeting shortly (about just this sort of thing). Costs? To the campus? To the students?
Jennifer Clinkenbeard
01:31:30
Are the student questions always multiple choice? and if not, how well do they handle equivalent expressions?
Brett Christie, Chancellor's Office
01:32:03
Thanks, Susan!
Susan Addington
01:32:23
Good question, Jennifer: is there a way for students to enter expressions (as in Webwork, etc.)?
Mike Krebs
01:33:31
Accessibility? (Reading out loud for visually impaired students?)

I like this co-requisite course concept
Jen-Mei Chang (CSULB)
01:42:29
For your co-req courses, are you using EdReady during the first few weeks of the course or the co-req is scattered throughout the semester? If second, how do you easily choose topics that are just-in-time for the main course?
Brett Christie, Chancellor's Office
