I agree, great to see many of you last week in person.

19:09
I didn’t know So Cal had something called “fall” … we have “fire season” although Nor Cal unfortunately got that this year.

21:08
We will also have a Partner Sticker available in teh future. Fred

23:12
meetings with 2-3 faculty at a time showing them some OER’s for their department

23:52
We are partnering with the soc. sci. department chair, and a lead in psych to plan a spring institute to create plans for converting to low-cost or OER.

24:01
The faculty lead for our ZTC degree development is trying to meet with faculty and departments in key areas of GE where we need more ZTC classes to enable a ZTC GE pathway.

24:37
We’ve been pretty scatter-shot so far; but are trying to start focusing at a departmental level and have a shell of some sort ready to go showing OER in the course. Music/Dance is scheduled for Nov 15

24:45
Initial lists of OER will be curated by librarians to give them a starting point. Similar to Jinan.

24:46
Our college is very small, so I just chat with them in their office when I see them in the repro room. There are only a couple of dozen full time faculty, so I can easily speak with every one of them often.

24:46
Grass roots discussions whenever and wherever possible.

25:28
Our department call for our joint AL$ and QA initiative. https://library.humboldt.edu/about/sustainable.html

25:52
We have our adjunct librarian work individually with GE faculty. They are integral to our ZTC degree work

26:54
training new faculty and faculty doing redesign about OER/AL$ materials...why to use and how to find.

27:00
Like Jim, we haev a faculty lead encourage usage by their colleagues. But, we have found we need to be involved to push this into action. Creating a "model" course helps for faculty to visually see how the OER material looks in Bb/Canvas.

27:19
We are also going to align with the Course Redesign Institute in Spring much as Susan is saying.

27:41
Our librarians definitely are becoming more and more aware of ZTC efforts and are thinking about ways to connect faculty with resources that are provided through the library and could serve to replace some course materials.

28:50
I focus on asking if faculty want "free resources for their class". Who could turn this down. Then we ease into these as a potential textbook replacement.

29:08
WooHoo! They did a great job! So proud!

29:26
They really did!

29:43
Students made me think about other groups on campus that might be useful — financial aid, EOP, married student groups, etc

29:57
This was one of my favorite presentations at the conference! Definitely motivated me to get students more involved in OER growth on campus.

30:13
We seek evey opportunity to connect with LBSU faculty including 1:1 meetings, departmental presentations, becoming an agenda item at an Academic Senate meeting, and similar.

Humboldt also announced our Open Access Scholarship of Teaching and Learning - Innovated Pedagogy Journal, http://digitalcommons.humboldt.edu/sotl_ip/

34:40
Thanks, Susan!

35:13
There was an amazing student advocacy session on Wednesday

36:07
I agree Jaime - the unconference was quite interesting

37:28
yes!

37:50
Thank you! It's nice for us all to remember why we're working so hard on OER!

39:56
Could you confirm whether or not the designation needs to be in both the printed and online schedules? There is some confusion on our campus.

40:09
law says online

40:17
I’m curious to know how many CSUs/CCCs have decided to go beyond SB 1359 and also do an official designation for low-cost course materials.

40:29
(Low cost course material classes)

42:31
We are trying to get our bookstore program (MBS) to talk to our scheduling program (Colleague). Has anyone had success on getting those to work together?

44:21
From Sandy: @Suzanne Bookstores all are already working with scheduling due to 2010 HEOA. Must show text costs in schedule.

44:57
SB 1359 is great because it is the law. Designating low-cost classes could be controversial with some faculty so maybe a future meeting could discuss how colleges might deal with that if there is interest but also resistance in designating low-cost classes ...

45:23
Suzanne: We are writting a simple program to push the information from the Bookstore to Enollment Services. However, we do not use MBS or Colleague.

45:40
Santa Monica College has an online schedule with a link that shows the cost of textbooks

46:07
Jared, I'd be interested in this.

46:09
For us we just link from the schedule over to the bookstore system. I think that’s compliant with the law. The two systems really don’t talk to each other though.

46:39
We are only showing zero textbook cost courses in our schedule (both online and in print). We highlight these courses so that they truly stand out in the schedule. We also use the icon, but the highlighting is what shouts it out the most.

46:39
We also rely on the bookstore. and it's been scattershot in terms of what is provided from faculty and the bookstore.

46:40
jared.ceja@csulb.edu

46:47
That's correct @Jim - that is the issue. We are compliant with the old law but not the new

46:49
Thanks, Jared.

46:55
For SB 1359 our faculty will need to self-designate any of their classes that are ZTC - that’s been programmed as a new function in our SIS.

47:04
My pleasure!

47:43
A low-cost disscussion would be wonderful. We had disagreeement on the amount.

48:57
Next Webinar: Tuesday, 11/14 @ 12:00 - 1:00 PM

51:18
Arey any of the participating campus' Follett bookstores?

52:03
Sandra, I know all the colleges right in our area - MiraCosta, Palomar, and CSU-SM are Follett

52:19
But I don’t know if any of them are doing this program.

52:31
Thank you Jim.

53:01
San Marcos has been in contact with us at SDSU but im not sure how it is going.

53:11
Would this be similar to Follett on Demand?

53:14
3

53:47
@Sandra Yes

54:33
Thank you Theresa.

55:41
Sandra. We believe you are close to 100% correct. we will confirm for you offline.

01:03:06
Can the modules or layout of the modules be shared?

01:03:55
Thank you :) I will look up the hero program.

01:04:50
We are using tools through Verba

01:05:32
It feeds into our NBC Prism system

01:05:59
Hero is an adoption tool from Sidewalk which Fy=ullerton does have a partner realtionship with.

01:06:22
We are using our Verba Collect tool. We will be using a shared google doc to send no text required courses to the campus.

I am interersted as well

01:11:03
